Here it is already, July in Arizona!  Are you hot and thirsty?

On a vacation to California, my husband, Dan and I decided to go through Death Valley.  It was in July and we were on our motorcycle.  Talk about hot!  It was 120 degrees and the heat coming off the asphalt road was at least 200 degrees.

We attempted to stay hydrated but our bodies seemed to alert us to the fact that we were running on low.  Late in the afternoon we stopped at a gas station and bought two big jugs of Gatorade.  We did not drink it.  We guzzled it (I know that doesn't sound feminine but I'm just reporting it!).  We had never known thirst like that before.  No wonder it’s called Death Valley.

Don't you just love the way God’s Word is so picturesque?

Psalm 63:1

O God, You are my God, earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You, my body longs for You, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

John 8:37-38
If anyone is thirsty, God provides “the living water” through the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 5:6

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

God is the source of my satisfaction.

Acts 17:25c
“…and He satisfies every need there is.”

Whether we realize it or not, we are thirsty for God, we long for that vacuum in our lives to be filled, we relentlessly search for satisfaction and contentment.  Look no further!  All of these longings are found in God alone.

Our foremost source of knowledge and understanding about God and our relationship to Him and in the world in which we live is found in the Bible.  Take time daily to drink in His unchanging Word and love.  You will find purpose and stability.

Drink up and drink in the Living Water!
